The Vikings and Rams met twice this season, each game featuring differing offensive and defensive performances from both teams. Matthew Stafford proved adept against aggressive blitzes while Sam Darnold struggled to keep drives alive.
Puka Nacua made an immediate impactful statement for Los Angeles early, helping lead both first half TD drives. Their consistent passing game will keep them as playoff contenders; Minnesota’s difficulties on third and fourth down may require major offseason changes to remain competitive, watch Minnesota Vikings Vs Los Angeles Rams Match Player Stats.
Matthew Stafford
Matthew Stafford was able to easily make quick work of the Vikings defense on their initial two drives, leading his team into the end zone and giving them an early advantage. On both drives he connected with Kyren Williams for short passes across his body before unleashing one big throw to Davis Allen on each.
Puka Nacua played an instrumental part in both touchdown drives at SoFi Stadium. With his speed and open routes, Cooper Kupp was an effective threat that made plays happen quickly.
Stafford was able to quickly recognize and dispose of all of the blitzes employed by the Vikings and deliver quick passes for an important win for Rams. This was another key element in their victory.
Sam Darnold was sacked late in the first half on 4th-and-2 from mid field, giving the Rams an opportunity to increase their lead and strengthen their argument that keeping Darnold is worth keeping; losing this game only makes keeping him harder.
T.J. Hockenson
Thomas James Hockenson (born July 3, 1997) is an American football tight end who currently plays for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. Hockenson was selected in the first round (8th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft by Minnesota, after attending Iowa for his college career and receiving various accolades including winning John Mackey Award as best tight end of college football.
The Rams took advantage of short fields to produce two touchdown drives in the first half, taking an early 24-3 advantage into halftime. Puka Nacua played an instrumental role in both of them – showing an offensive team determined to move the ball downfield.
The Vikings defense has seen some decline in recent weeks, yet was still strong enough to contain Los Angeles and prevent their offense from scoring at will – especially after Byron Young sacked Sam Darnold for a safety with just 1:36 remaining in the game.
Jared Verse
Jared Verse has established himself as one of the premier defensive players in 2024, not only as an NFL rookie linebacker but also with his performance for the Rams defense and their undefeated campaign that propelled them into the Wild Card Round of playoffs. Former Albany Great Dane and Florida State Seminole Verse has been an instrumental contributor in helping lead them to an undefeated record and wild-card round of playoffs qualification.
Verse was an integral part of the Rams tying their franchise record of nine sacks against the Vikings, helping sack Sam Darnold multiple times before picking up and returning one for a score. Additionally, he turned one Darnold fumble into six points by scooping it up and returning it 57 yards for another score.
Verse’s explosive play on this play demonstrates his impact in the Rams’ defense. He easily disposes of two blockers before getting a sack. Furthermore, on his next play he makes an important run support tackle that helps limit Minnesota Vikings offensive output.
T.J. Jones
The one-loss Vikings took on the two-win Rams in a game moved to Arizona due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. This road game for Minnesota was supposed to be their final one this season but they hope that tonight, against all odds, they can prove all their doubters wrong and win! AS English will be there all night providing coverage, stats and highlights from tonight.
The Rams made an early statement as they marched right down the field, getting Minnesota offsides on 4th-and-1 at 10, before Matthew Stafford found Kyren Williams in the end zone for an advantage they never surrendered.
The Rams defense remained strong in the second half, limiting Minnesota to just two field goals in the second half. Demarcus Robinson caught two touchdown passes from Matthew Stafford for further margin, and Byron Young sacked Sam Darnold for a safety with under a minute remaining to secure Los Angeles’ victory and send Minnesota packing. With that victory under their belts, Los Angeles heads towards Philadelphia where their matchup with Eagles could decide the NFC West championship title.
Demarcus Robinson
The Rams came into this game looking much different than they had at their season launch, boasting both an effective defense and offense led by Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp.
The Rams began their game strong with an opening drive that resulted in a touchdown touchdown to Kyren Williams on a short field. They later scored again via pass to Robinson before halftime.
Robinson is an integral piece to the Rams offense, not producing massive volumes, yet providing reliable receiving production. Without him and Kupp, their respective roles would not exist and neither team would exist as efficiently as it currently does.
The Vikings struggled to find their rhythm early, while their defense allowed the Rams to build an early lead. They made some huge defensive plays during the second half and their offense finally found some rhythm by the fourth quarter.
