Afghanistan

Afghanistan and Bangladesh share an affinity in cricket, producing nail-biting encounters on both sides of the border. Their heated rivalry has captured the interest of fans worldwide; each side brings something different that makes them highly competitive against one another.

Both sides will be looking to establish themselves among the premier cricketing nations, and this series may prove crucial in that effort. Both boast talented batsmen and are likely to find Sharjah’s pitch conducive for batting.

Afghanistan used a late surge to reach 235 runs, led by Mohammad Nabi’s astounding 84 and an eye-opening 104-run partnership between him and Hashmatullah Shahidi. Although Afghanistan suffered four wickets towards the back end, they managed to defend their total comfortably.

Mahmudullah Riyad made a fantastic contribution, falling just short of a century at 98 but leading Bangladesh to an excellent total. Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided excellent support with an unbeaten 78 off 80 deliveries – both batsmen had tremendous innings.

Afghanistan will rely on Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan as its go-to players, while Mohammad Shahzad returns after recovering from finger injury. Meanwhile, talented left-hand batter Sediqullah Atal has also been added to their lineup as cover for Ibrahim Zadran who remains injured; Atal has previously played six T20Is for Afghanistan so will hope to extend this run in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh are fielding an experienced squad with Soumya Sarkar and Mushfiqur Rahim alongside talented youngster. Additionally they boast left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and wicketkeeper Jaker Ali who should add depth to their batting line-up; for bowling they have veteran Tanzim Hasan Sakib alongside fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam completing their roster.

ODIs

As it is owned and administered by government it also determines its president who must be appointed accordingly.

Afghanistan has emerged as an influential player on the international scene despite coming under Taliban control, thanks to cricket. Cricket has been seen as a source of hope amongst its people after years of war and insurrection; during T20 World Cup held in West Indies hundreds of Afghans took to the streets to celebrate their country’s unexpected win over Australia.
