Axar Patel, born January 3, 1975, and hailing from Gujarat state, and a team cricketer. He currently represents Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League as an left-arm spinner with a left hand batting style and three types of cricket balls: white, pink red.
Axar Patel is 6 feet 0 inches tall, which is approximately 1.82 meters. His height gives him an advantage as a left-arm spinner, allowing him to generate good bounce and turn on the pitch
Patel is often compared to Ravindra Jadeja due to their similar skill sets and styles of bowling. He is well known for his accuracy, bowling tight lines and scoring quick runs lower down in the order.
Patel was named tournament victor at the 2021 ACC Emerging Teams Cup after taking seven wickets in only three matches to claim victory, earning himself selection for India’s Test squad against England. On his Test debut he recorded five wickets on day one – becoming only the ninth bowler ever to accomplish such an achievement on their Test debut!
After his impressive ODI debut, Axar was selected to play in several T20Is in 2022 despite his inexperience. Impressing selectors by taking wickets at an acceptable rate, he soon established himself as a regular member of limited-overs squads and often deputised for Ravindra Jadeja when needed.
Axar Patel is known for both his cricket career and business acumen. His company, Axar Patel Industries, operates in various sectors including agriculture and mining. Furthermore, Axar is also an avid philanthropist having donated to numerous charitable organisations over time.
Axar Patel’s net worth has been estimated to be roughly INR 49 crore (approximately $6 Million). His wealth primarily derives from his cricket career – both national and IPL contracts contribute significantly; brand endorsements also play a big part. Axar resides in his lavish bungalow named Rajkiran near Nadiad in Gujarat.
He married Meha Patel, who works in dietician and nutrition. They tied the knot on 26 January 2023 in Vadodra, Gujarat with many of his cricketing friends attending including Ishant Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat and Mohammad Kaif.
At present, they do not have any children together but are content in their relationship and love spending time together.
As part of his second IPL season in 2014, he took 17 wickets for Kings XI Punjab; an excellent return on investment for their franchise. Since then he has become one of the premier bowlers in this competition.
Axar’s ball has a negative lift value, meaning that when pitched it moves inward. This makes his deliveries difficult to hit and aids him in producing front foot LBWs – according to Nathan Leamon and Ben Jones’ book Hitting Against the Spin, 83% of 4- to 5-metre length balls from spinners played back against Axar are played back as opposed to 51% overall, explaining his high incidence of front foot LBWs.
