Chris Gayle is a highly acclaimed Jamaican cricketer. He represents West Indies in both one-day internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 tournaments (T20s), in both of which he has contributed many runs as well as hitting sixes for his team, helping win numerous trophies alongside Chris. Many consider Chris one of the greatest cricketers worldwide and boast his popularity among their supporters.
Gayle was born in Kingston, Jamaica and began his cricketing career at an early age. An aggressive cricketer, Gayle has represented West Indies across ODIs, T20s, and Test matches; becoming a pivotal member of their squad; his powerful bat has garnered over 19,000 international runs – becoming one of the world’s premier batsmen.
West Indies cricketer Carlos Brathwaite holds numerous records; most notably being the fastest to reach 100 runs across all formats of play and scoring the most sixes in T20 matches. In these roles he has also scored more runs for his side than any other West Indian. Brathwaite holds numerous other accolades, too: being fastest ever player to achieve all-format century and scoring most sixes during T20Is respectively.
In 2009, he led West Indies team in the ICC T20 World Cup and scored an outstanding 88 in their opening match to help defeat Australia. Unfortunately they lost in the semi-finals to Sri Lanka.
Gayle remains an integral member of West Indies cricket despite becoming less visible recently in Test matches. He holds 15 Test centuries and over 7,000 runs scored across 103 matches; ranking him fourth on the highest first-class scores list behind Donald Bradman, Brian Lara and Virender Sehwag.
