Colombia national football team vs Uruguay national football team lineups

Uruguay has yet to lose in Copa America and will look to extend their winning streak against Colombia at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez is expected to play for Uruguay against Brazil. Unfortunately Ronald Araujo received an injury-inducing knock against Brazil while Nahitan Nandez has been suspended due to receiving a red card for tackleing Rodrygo against them in their quarter-final matchup.

Overview to Team Lineups

Colombia and Uruguay will meet in a semi-final match that could decide who wins the 2024 Copa America title. Both teams finished as group leaders and have yet to lose in this tournament; Los Cafeteros recently beat Panama while Celeste managed to escape a penalty shootout against Brazil to qualify for the final.

James Rodriguez will likely lead Colombia against Uruguay with six assists at this tournament already and may become only the third player ever to do so at such an important tournament. Jefferson Lerma and Luis Diaz should also feature heavily for South Americans in what should be an action-packed encounter.

Marcelo Bielsa will likely shuffle Uruguayan defence following Ronald Araujo and Nahitan Nandez’s injuries in the quarter-finals, forcing Guillermo Varela and Mathias Olivera into more prominent roles against Colombia’s fast-paced attack.

Colombia National Football

Colombia and Ecuador meet in a semifinal with a place in the final of Copa America on the line. Colombia rolled into the last four with an easy 5-0 win against Panama, led by James Rodriguez who tied Lionel Messi’s record of five assists at this tournament.

Jefferson Lerma of Crystal Palace will return to Colombia’s lineup following a suspension. Nestor Lorenzo may start him alongside Davinson Sanchez and Carlos Cuesta as center-backs while Jhon Cordoba and Rafael Santos Borre provide attacking depth.

Marcelo Bielsa will have to make changes due to injuries and suspensions for Uruguay. Ronald Araujo will miss after suffering an injury during Brazil’s penalty shootout while Nahitan Nandez will not participate after receiving a straight red card.

Uruguay National Football

Uruguay have been one of the tournament’s standout teams this tournament and are hoping to add their fifth win of Copa America history on Sunday against hosts USA. Crystal Palace defender Jefferson Lerma could come in as replacement for injured Jhon Lucumi while Carlos Cuesta may come in place of Davinson Sanchez.

Nahitan Nandez will miss the quarter-final due to an injury suffered in the quarterfinal, and will be replaced by Flamengo right back Guillermo Varela from La Celeste. Their defense has been La Celeste’s strong suit up until this point; with Araujo out and Nandez suspended they must make changes or risk facing off against Colombia – one of the toughest teams on Earth.

First half was an exciting battle characterized by numerous chances. James Rodriguez has been an outstanding contributor this tournament and was instrumental in all three Colombian goals as he made an unprecedented five assists – even nearly scoring one from just outside the box – but his shot went wide.

Which team is better Uruguay or Colombia?

Two South American powerhouses square off in the Copa America semifinals at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Colombia leads after Jefferson Lerma scored in the 39th minute; Lionel Messi is set to lead Argentina into a final showdown that could decide the competition’s winner; Colombia hopes to notch its first title since hosting it back in 2001.

Colombia will likely field the same team that defeated Panama 5-0 in their quarterfinal match, meaning Crystal Palace defender Jefferson Lerma could start alongside Manchester City midfielder Carlos Cuesta and Chelsea-affiliated forward Jhon Cordoba.

Bielsa will face a challenging Colombia team who have already scored 10 goals at this tournament, though Boca Juniors defender Nahitan Nandez may not play due to being suspended for violent conduct; Guillermo Varela will replace him.

Who is favoured to win Colombia vs Uruguay?

Uruguay has proven itself an effective force at both ends of the field in Copa America play, scoring nine goals while keeping four clean sheets from their four matches so far and keeping their opponents scoreless in almost half their matches. Unfortunately for them however, key defenders such as Boca Juniors star Nahitan Nandez is currently suspended while Barcelona center back Ronald Araujo suffered an injury against Brazil and will most likely be replaced by José María Giménez while Flamengo right back Guillermo Varela could come in to replace Nandez should his suspension ends.

Colombia, on the other hand, has made impressive strides toward reaching their fifth consecutive final in this tournament and currently leads Group D comfortably. Reigning champions Colombia boast the highest scoring rate of any team competing and James Rodriguez is back to form like it’s 2014. He already has five assists under his belt since returning from injury; another could come during Wednesday’s matchup.

Final words

Luis Diaz’s Colombia will take on an in-form Uruguay side for a spot in the 2024 Copa America final, promising an exciting encounter. Both teams had impressive quarterfinal performances that will surely ensure this semi-final encounter remains riveting.

Jefferson Lerma will return to Colombia’s starting lineup after missing last weekend’s 5-0 win against Panama due to yellow card accumulation. The Crystal Palace defender could likely replace Manchester United star Mateus Uribe at right wing position; although Uribe could still see some action.

Colombia will likely recall Camilo Vargas after his impressive start against Peru in goal. Jhon Lucumi could also feature for Nestor Lorenzo’s squad; however he is currently dealing with an injury and may miss out.
