Double Century in IPL: Legendary Knocks, Top Players & Unforgettable Moments

Double Century In Ipl

Indian Premier League (IPL) is an incubator for talented young Indian and international talent. For 2023’s competition, this format returned with two new teams added: Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant.

Shubman Gill’s double century at Lord’s was propelled by an approach reminiscent of childhood cricket and technical adjustments that helped him find joy once more at the crease.

Double Century in IPL: Records, Players & Iconic Matches

1. Virat Kohli

Kohli is one of the most aggressive batsmen in cricket and channels this aggression into runs for his team. He has an enviable technique which allows him to judge ball length early while his quick wrists allow him to run through spinners with ease. A top batsman in any condition and conditions – capable of scoring tons even on challenging wickets – he assumed India captainship in 2016 with impressive maturity and consistency as evidenced in his performances as captain.

He made his domestic cricket debut for Delhi in 2006 and quickly demonstrated that he belonged at a higher level of competition. Soon thereafter he earned a regular place in the national side before making his ODI debut against Sri Lanka scoring a century. From thereon forward he quickly cemented his place within ODI cricket, becoming an established name and was widely considered one of its future stars.

Kohli made his Test debut in 2011 and quickly established himself as a mainstay in India’s team, despite an ineffective showing against West Indies in the Test series. Soon thereafter he distinguished himself with impressive runs against Australia during a disastrous tour and scored several hundreds to help India secure their inaugural series win there.

2. Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey has taken an unconventional route to success in cricket. Starting as an age-group cricketer for Karnataka domestic circuits and then moving onto IPL where he has excelled impressively.

He is an extremely versatile player who can bat from any position, hitting big hits off any bowler in IPL 2021 and serving as one of its stars. However, to regain national selection he will need to continue working hard.

Pandey has proven his abilities with Kolkata Knight Riders before, so it will be interesting to watch him this season as well. Not one to take anything lightly or give an inch, Pandey fights hard for every run he earns and is one of few players capable of contributing substantial innings for their franchises – an ability which he has displayed time after time.

Prithvi Shaw is another player who could score double centuries if given an opportunity to represent his franchises. Recently he has shown some promising form with the bat and is regarded as an extremely promising young talent in India’s domestic team. As a batsman he can smash many sixes and fours to amass an impressive score.

3. Ayush Badoni

Ayush Badoni was born in Delhi, India to Vivek Badoni a documentary filmmaker and his mother Latha Badoni an educator. Ayush began playing cricket while still in school, garnering recognition from his coaches. Following this he joined Sonnet Cricket Club where his skills were further developed under Tariq Sinha and Devendra Sharma’s guidance.

He made his domestic debut in 2021 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and struggled to break into Delhi’s first-class side, until finally breaking through at the 2022 Indian Premier League mega auction with Lucknow Supergiants.

On his debut match, when his team were struggling at 29/4, he came in and quickly demonstrated his dynamic batting style by hitting an unbeaten fifty in just 41 balls – garnering worldwide acclaim and respect from cricket enthusiasts everywhere.

Since joining the Lucknow Supergiants in 2015, Ayush has become a key member of their middle order and an impressive finisher and wicket-taker in T20 cricket – especially his ability to hit massive sixes whenever necessary! His performances have drawn comparisons to AB de Villiers’, making him one of India’s potential young T20 stars for future. Furthermore, Ayush is quick learner, having had great help from his coaches in developing his batting style further.

4. Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum’s incredible 158 not out on the inaugural night of the Indian Premier League cemented it as more than just a glamour concept. His innings was an instant classic that set an example for future T20 batsmen – and was one that changed cricket forever.

McCullum is a right-handed batsman who frequently opens New Zealand batting in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Tests. An aggressive player, his strong pull shot and powerful straight drive are complimented by square cut shots to the leg side for added impact. As well as being an exceptional batsman, he’s also an outstanding wicketkeeper – though recently Luke Ronchi took up that position due to recurring back problems that made it more difficult for him.

McCullum is an outstanding all-rounder and has played in two ICC World Cup finals. In 2015, due to Martin Guptill and Tom Latham being injured and facing injury concerns himself, he became New Zealand’s best batsman during this tournament – winning New Zealand their highest run total with 1138 runs at an average of 45 runs per innings and nine dismissed for one caught-and-bowleds and five dismissals in total! Additionally he made five dismissals and picked up one caught-and-bowled wicket during this competition which added another level of fielding excellence that made his presence felt.

In 2022, he became England’s inaugural Test coach, coaching them to an impressive 2-1 series win against Pakistan. His style is widely recognized for being extremely hard on players while prioritising fitness and discipline.
