Pakistan National Cricket Team and India National Cricket Team’s match on social media platforms has caused much buzz; this rivalry is one of the greatest in cricket history.
India displayed exceptional control, restricting Pakistan to 241 runs and dominating their opponents with ease. Shubman Gill’s classy century and Rohit Sharma’s aggressive batting were key in helping India reach their target with six wickets remaining.
Virat Kohli’s century
Virat Kohli delivered a measured, yet breathtaking century that held off England’s crumbling bowlers long enough for India to take an early first innings lead in their Test match with England – who have won two out of three home Test matches so far this summer.
Kohli’s innings was an outstanding display of controlled aggression and impressive technique against pace and spin, cementing his status as one of world cricket’s premier batsmen.
As he reached 152 not out from 244 balls, only his own will stood between him and becoming India’s fastest ever to achieve double centuries in one-day internationals. It was an outstanding performance worthy of someone who has already received India’s three top sporting honours: Arjuna Award, Padma Shri and Khel Ratna.
Kohli’s innings was marred only by one error with the ball, an oversight not uncommon in an international match. Nathan Lyon’s off-spin can be difficult to play on pitches that turn sharply, leaving Kohli slightly out of sorts as he began his assault against it. Kohli tried working a leg side delivery from open stance but his footwork left him too far across and he jabbed at it instead.
Hardik Pandya’s bowling
After an eventful 2018, Pandya has emerged a more mature cricketer. He took great care in learning from his mistakes and improving his bowling. His back of a length deliveries, slow balls and extra bounce have proven particularly troublesome to batsmen.
Mumbai Indians captain Virat Kohli has an uncanny ability of getting opposing captains out, like Mayank Agarwal against Punjab Kings and Kane Williamson against Sunrisers Hyderabad during recent IPL matches. Furthermore, as captain, he understands when to use strike bowlers like Mohammad Shami or Lockie Ferguson.
Pandya has quickly established himself as an integral member of India’s white-ball setup and seen his game dramatically improve since joining. He is an excellent partner to Shami, and among the premier T20 seamers worldwide.
In this match, he excelled with both bat and ball, being economical while picking up three wickets including those of Babar Azam (23) and Shakeel. Furthermore, he played some audacious strokes to help India complete their run chase in 42.3 overs while breaking records for most runs scored in a T20 innings by an Indian opener; 223 total was also the highest total ever scored during any Champions Trophy innings matchup!
Saud Shakeel’s innings
Saud Shakeel’s innings was Pakistan’s defining one and ultimately propelled them close to victory. The 29-year-old right-handed batsman made an outstanding century off 113 balls – with nine fours and one six. His performance helped the visitors come back from 16/3 after losing Babar Azam for a duck, and led the charge.
Shaheen Shah Afridi played an outstanding innings to lead Pakistan to a respectable total of 461 in its first innings. Mohammad Rizwan also contributed significantly, scoring an excellent half century. Shaheen Shah Afridi made an important cameo appearance, providing much-needed support.
Young Shakeel also equaled a 65-year-old record set by Pakistan in Test cricket history – becoming only the fourth Pakistan player after Javed Miandad, Saeed Ahmed and Sadiq Mohammad to make a Test century in that format.
He has now only been dismissed five times out of the first six innings in this series, including his unbeaten 208 that put him into the limelight and even became viral on social media platforms.
On day two, Shakeel outdid himself with both bat and ball. His spinners made an excellent showing, particularly Naseem Shah who took four wickets while Fazal Habib made three cameo appearances to add three of his own – reaching an amazing average of 97.8!
India’s bowling
Pakistan and India rivalry games tend to be highly emotional affairs that provide compelling contests between talented teams from both nations. Because these matches draw large crowds eager to witness matches of such high caliber, matches between these nations are always sold-out events packed with fans wanting a high quality matchup.
India has an extensive history of producing world-class cricketers. Under Imran Khan, they won their inaugural World Cup victory in 1992; since then they have gone on to become one of the most dominant forces in history cricket – dominating all formats as well as Twenty20 cricket in particular.
In 2016, Pakistan became the top-ranked Test team after drawing with England in an international Test series, marking an immense feat and celebratory parade held in Lahore to commemorate it. Furthermore, they received their inaugural Test mace as a token of thanks.
Nepal made their debut appearance at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2022 against Pakistan on September 4 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Sri Lanka. Winning the toss, Nepal elected to field first and restricted Pakistan to just 230 runs off 49 overs; during their chase process captain Rohit Paudel scored an unbeaten 81 off 76 balls while Karan KC and Sandeep Lamichhane took 5 and 3 wickets respectively.
