Rohit Sharma holds a record of four double hundred– three in One day Internationals and one in Test cricket. In 2013, Rohit became only the third batter to achieve a double ton in the 50-over format after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. He achieved his first double century against Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and went on to score 200-plus runs against Sri Lanka in 2014 and 2017, respectively. His lone double century in Test came against South Africa in the third match of the series held at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

Rohit Sharma’s double century list in ODIs

 209 vs Australia in 2013

Rohit Sharma achieved his career’s first double century in an ODI against Australia in November 2013 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. It was the seventh and final ODI of the series. Batting first, India posted a mammoth total of 283/6, thanks to a double century from Rohit. 

He achieved his century in 114 deliveries and added another 100 in just 42 deliveries. He has achieved a total of 209 for 158 deliveries, including 12 boundaries and 16 maximums. Meanwhile, Australia also put up a strong fight but fell short of 57 runs. Rohit emerged as the Player of the Match for his sensational double century and also won the Player of the Series award for contributing 491 runs.

His second double hundred also came in an ODI match, which has set new benchmarks in cricket. In an ODI match held at Eden Gardens in Kolkata in November 2014, India posted a formidable total of 404/5, with Rohit leading the charge. The Swashbuckling opener, scored a century off a run-a-ball and they continued to attack the Sri Lankan bowlers and scored next 164 runs off just 73 deliveries. He finished with an incredible 264 off just 173 balls, including 33 boundaries and nine maximums. The 33 fours was the most by a batsman in a single ODI innings. Rohit scripted history with his knock, as he became the first batter to cross the 25-runmark in an ODI innings and his knock became the highest individual score in the history of the format to date. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 251 runs as India secured a win by a153-run margin.

 During the second game of the three-match series against Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma achieved his third doubled hundred. He achieved an unbeaten score of 208 from 153 deliveries as India posted a total of 392/4 in 50 overs. His knock was studded with 13 boundaries and 12 maximums. India then restricted the island nation by 251 runs and secured a commanding 141-run win.

212 vs South Africa in 2019

Rohit Sharma scored his one and only Test double century during the third and final of the series against South Africa in 2019. In the match held at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi, India declared at 497/9 in 116.3 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first. The veteran opener scored 212 off 255 deliveries at a strike rate of 83.13, including 28 boundaries and six maximums. 

India went on to dismiss the Proteas by 162 and 133 in two innings and clinched the game by an innings and 202 runs. Rohit won the player of the match award for his outstanding knock. He also emerged as the Player of the Series, contributing a total of 529 runs. Remarkably, this marked his fourth double century in his career.
