Why Hardik Pandya Banned In IPL 2025?

Hardik Pandya stands out in a sport where players are judged on both their batting and bowling prowess, by combining rapid seam bowling with powerful ball striking ability. Pandya stands out as the quintessential all-rounder: scoring runs, taking wickets, excelling at fielding – Hardik is truly the complete cricket player embodied by tattoos and peroxide highlights who epitomise modern cricketers with his impressive array of talents.

He made an immediate impact in the IPL with his quick bowling and street-wise approach to cricket, immediately becoming one of its fan favourites and an integral member of India’s limited-overs team.

India won both the T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025 under his leadership, before carrying this momentum over into ODIs where he excelled both with bat and ball; particularly impressive was his performance against England in the final of both tournaments.

But Pandya’s headline-making off the pitch haven’t done him any favors. His controversial statements regarding homosexuality and how he spoke about women on Indian television led to a flood of criticism that resulted in him being banned for the remainder of IPL 2025.

Reports indicate that BCCI has decided not to implement match bans as part of its captain-related rules but will instead penalise captains with demerit points; any bans would only be applied under extreme circumstances.

Hardik Pandya may face setbacks during this year’s IPL, yet it seems likely he will return for Mumbai Indians’ season finale against Chennai Super Kings and lead them to victory. After all, Hardik has an excellent track record in IPL finals – it would be unfair not to allow him this chance!

Hardik Pandya is an all-rounder known for his right-handed batting and right-arm fast-medium bowling. Known for his confident on and off-field demeanor, Pandya made his professional debut with Gujarat Titans of the Indian Premier League where he won two titles during their inaugural season; later contributing towards India’s IPL win in 2022 as an integral member sharing new-ball duties alongside Mohammad Shami while playing up the order as well.

He made an immediate impact during his debut ODI series against England, scoring an unorthodox yet stylish 93 and picking up five wickets at Cape Town. While in Test cricket he has struggled, he remains an important cog in India’s side.

Hardik emerged as an amazing captain of the new-look Gujarat Titans in 2023, leading them to an IPL title win and also being an instrumental member of India at Champions Trophy 2025, pairing well with Ravindra Jadeja while showing great maturity with the ball on difficult pitches. Since Kapil Dev’s retirement from international cricket, India have been lacking a quality all-rounder; and Hardik has more than proved he’s worth in filling that role.
