History

Chattogram Challengers had an uncertain start to their season but eventually secured two victories against Khulna Tigers and Durdanto Dhaka to claim two wins and four points and claim fifth position on the table.

Durdanto Dhaka proved their greatest challenge, winning by an easy six wicket margin with an effective strategy: win the toss, bowl first and restrict their opponents to low scores – something Shakib Al Hasan (2/24) and James Neesham (3/22) masterfully achieved.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim led his team’s batting performance with an unbeaten 49-run innings that helped reach its target in 17.4 overs. Shahadat Hossain played well too with 22 off 31 balls to ease pressure off of them all.

Best Performance

Fortune Barishal will aim to avenge their shock loss against Dhaka Dominators in their last match, yet doing so won’t be easy as their form has been poor – just two wins in 10 matches put them bottom of the points table.

Chattogram Challengers remain in contention for a semi-final spot and West Indies recruit Kyle Mayers led their charge against Durdanto Dhaka by scoring an unbeaten half century, hitting five sixes and three fours during his innings to keep their hopes alive.

Tanzid Hasan and Najibullah Zadran also excelled with the bat, helping Chattogram Challengers reach a respectable total of 137/6 before Dhaka managed to chase it down without losing wicket. Following this win, Chattogram Challengers moved onto the Eliminator round for the first time – their journey in this league having seen some ups and downs!

Final words

Fortune Barishal found themselves on the losing end against Khulna Tigers in their previous match; however, they managed to rebound by defeating Chattogram Challengers in an Eliminator match and secure themselves entry into Round 2. Tanzid Hasan scored an unbeaten 116 runs while Shuvagata Hom led from behind for them in this victory.

Saifuddin, Kyle Mayers and Obed McCoy’s bowlers proved equally formidable for Barishal as each took two wickets apiece. Barishal lost Soumya Sarkar early in its chase but Tamim Iqbal and No. 3 Shuvagata Hom quickly responded by hitting multiple sixes and fours off Shuvagata Hom’s bat before Soumya Sarkar could join Tamim Iqbal to establish themselves with some impressive sixes and fours from both batsmen quickly after Soumya was out.

Mashrafe Mortaza’s Sylhet Strikers currently rank sixth in the BPL table and are vying for fifth spot against Durdanto Dhaka – playing at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on November 18.
